Nowadays anyone with a couple of $200 microphones and ProTools on a computer can make a decent recording. But to make a great first impression on the ears of the people you want to listen you need to take it up a notch.

We'll start with a thorough, honest critique of your music. Your friends, family and fans are not always objective. There's a lot we can do to help you sound your best, but you also need to be aware of what can't be fixed. Our evaluation is included in your first (free) consultation, and will help you make decisions about what your next step should be.

Next, we'll listen to you tell us what you want to do with your music – and we'll tell you honestly whether your aims are attainable. Once we agree on a realistic goal, we can plan the project and develop a schedule and budget for it.

Are we right for your project?

Our focus and area of greatest knowledge is acoustic music. We have worked in a number of genres, but are most comfortable with folk, country, and both traditional and main-stream jazz. If you're looking for someone to produce your ska band, we're probably not a good fit. On the other hand, we can help you find your mandolin's sweetest expression ... or produce the "growl" you always knew your National was capable of.

We are especially attuned to the subtleties of recording voices and acoustic instruments. We can help you get the best sound out of your Gibson J85, put together a rowdy chorus for your sing-along, and make your antique fretless banjo a delight to hear.

Penikese offers the services of Wepecket Island Records on a fee basis: everything from pre-production concept development, tune arrangement, coaching, studio time management, recording, mixing, mastering and manufacturing, graphic design ... right through to helping you develop a realistic marketing and touring strategy.
